What Happened

If you primarily want a tablet device to mark up, highlight, and annotate your e-books and documents, and perhaps sometimes scribble some notes, Amazon's new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft could be worth the hefty investment.

Our Take

This is a 'because we can' product, not a 'because you need it' product.

E-ink color is cool. Markup workflows on tablets are legitimate. But slap on some AI features and ask people to drop serious cash? Only works if you're already annotating hundreds of PDFs a week. For the rest of us, it's a pricey toy with a 'smart' sticker on it.

Amazon's playing hardware roulette. Sometimes it lands (Kindle itself). Sometimes you get this.

Skip unless annotation is actually your job.

What To Do

If you're a researcher or lawyer who marks up docs daily, maybe. Otherwise, your iPad is cheaper and does more.
