Robotics software maker Skild AI hits $14B valuation
What Happened
Skild AI, which is building general-purpose robotic software, just raised a $1.4 billion funding round led by SoftBank.
Our Take
Honestly? Another $1.4B for "general-purpose" robotic software is peak 2026 optimism. SoftBank's throwing money hoping one sticks, but robotics is hardware-constrained — software alone doesn't solve the physical world.
$14B valuation for something that's probably 2-3 years from useful deployment is aggressive. Real progress happens in manufacturing and logistics first, not pie-in-the-sky generalization.
The win here is if they differentiate on control (not just training data). Everyone else is chasing the same problem.
What To Do
Skip the hype. Check back when they have deployed units in production, not press releases.
