↗What Happened
Gradium, a startup spawned out of French AI lab Kyutai (backed by French telecom billionaire Xavier Niel), launched out of stealth on Tuesday.
Our Take
$70 million seed for voice AI? Voice synthesis is solved. Transcription is solved. The magic would be something genuinely new—seamless multi-language voice or real-time accent conversion. No idea what Gradium's actually doing, but $70M to a stealth startup screams hype cycle. Xavier Niel's deep pockets don't make the problem novel. Kyutai's labs are solid, but this funding tells me they raised way too much money.
What To Do
Wait to see what Gradium ships before taking the $70M valuation seriously.
