What Happened

AWS has been working with the U.S. government since 2011 and is now building AI infrastructure specifically for the entity.

Our Take

$50B is strategic but risky. Government procurement is glacial, vendor lock-in debates endless, and agency adoption is unproven. AWS has been with State since 2011 (solid foundation), but 'does the federal government actually build on this?'—that's the real question.

Could be AWS's best contract or billions parked on a shelf. Depends on adoption.

I'm skeptical. Governments move slow. This pays off in 5+ years or not at all.

What To Do

Monitor federal agency adoption in 12 months; silence means the money's sitting idle.
