↗What Happened
Altman named a long list of upcoming business he thinks will generate significant revenue.
Our Take
Hold on. Twenty billion ARR is real revenue. But $1.4 *trillion* in data center commitments? That's not revenue—that's a bet the whole farm on a market that might not exist at that scale.
If OpenAI can't generate enough economic value to service $1.4T in capex, they're finished. That's not a problem if model scaling continues to work, but it's an existential bet.
Sam's basically saying: "We need to be right about AGI economics." Anything less and they're radioactive.
What To Do
Track OpenAI's revenue growth against their $1.4T capex commitments—that ratio determines whether the company survives.
