OpenClaw’s AI assistants are now building their own social network
What Happened
The viral personal AI assistant formerly known as Clawdbot has a new shell — again. After briefly rebranding as Moltbot, it has now picked OpenClaw as its new name.
Our Take
This is a distraction wrapped in a rebrand. The product keeps changing names because the value prop isn't clear. If the viral hook is 'AI assistants talking to each other,' that's a feature, not a business. You can't charge for that.
They're hoping network effects save them, but you need real utility first. The viral growth is real, but so is the burn rate. This smells like VC pressure to show something that looks like Twitter but with AI.
What To Do
Skip it unless you're purely interested in how viral AI products monetize — there's no clear revenue model yet.
