What Happened

Anthropic, Block, and OpenAI are backing the Linux Foundation’s new Agentic AI Foundation, donating MCP, Goose, and AGENTS.md to standardize AI agents, boost interoperability, and curb proprietary fragmentation.

Our Take

Linux Foundation's new Agentic AI Foundation with OpenAI, Anthropic, Block behind it? Standardization on paper, but watch what actually gets adopted. When three massive companies define standards, they're usually locking in their approach, not opening the door.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a good start—it's actually useful infrastructure. But if smaller teams can't implement or extend it easily, it becomes another moat, not a bridge.

Real test: Do others fork or build on this, or does it stay siloed? Standards only matter if they're universal.

What To Do

Start testing MCP in your stack now—early adoption before potential lock-in is the smart move.
