Nvidia wants to be the Android of generalist robotics
What Happened
Nvidia unveiled a full-stack robotics ecosystem at CES 2026, including foundation models, simulation tools, and hardware. It wants to be the default platform for robotics.
Our Take
Nvidia just did what Nvidia always does—buy the entire value chain. Foundation models, simulation, hardware. They want to be Android for robots, and they probably will be.
This is smart vertical integration. Robotics is hard because there's no standard stack yet. Nvidia's providing one. The simulation tools matter more than models—you can't deploy a robot from pure training; you need digital twins that work.
But here's the catch: if everyone's using Nvidia hardware + Nvidia simulation + Nvidia models, you're not building a platform, you're building Nvidia's moat. It's more like "Apple for factory floors."
What To Do
If you're building robots, using Nvidia's stack is smart; just don't pretend you're platform-agnostic.
