Nvidia has an OpenClaw strategy. Do you?
What Happened
CEO Jensen Huang took the stage at Nvidia’s GTC conference this week in his signature leather jacket to deliver a two-and-a-half-hour keynote, projecting $1 trillion in AI chip sales through 2027, declaring that every company needs an “OpenClaw strategy,” and closing w
Our Take
Same message as GTC, different headline: you need a strategy for custom AI infrastructure, and if you don't build it yourself, someone else controls your costs and latency.
"OpenClaw strategy" is just branding for "own your compute." Nvidia's saying the era of pure cloud-vendor lock-in is ending—now you need chip-level lock-in instead (theirs, specifically).
The practical takeaway? If you're serious about AI, you can't outsource all inference to cloud APIs. You need on-prem or edge compute. The question is whether you own the silicon or rent it.
What To Do
Map out your inference load; if it's >50% of your compute spend, building or licensing proprietary hardware pays for itself within 18 months.
