↗What Happened
Nvidia has signed a €1 billion partnership with Deutsche Telekom to set up an "AI factory" in Munich that aims to boost Germany's AI computing power by 50%.
Our Take
This isn't AI news—it's geopolitics plus infrastructure. Germany's buying in-country compute to dodge US export restrictions (smart move). Deutsche Telekom gets carrier lock-in, Nvidia sells H100s. Everyone wins except US policy makers.
But it doesn't move the needle on AI *capability*. Munich's adding capacity, not inventing anything. This is good business, not innovation.
Geopolitically smart. Strategically irrelevant.
What To Do
Track it if you care about EU data sovereignty. Otherwise, ignore.
