What Happened

First Voyage has raised $2.5 million in a seed funding round from a16z speedrun, SignalFire, True Global, and other investors.

Our Take

Another AI habit companion. We've had this product seventeen times already—Oura, Apple Health, Noom, Fitbit, the list goes on. What First Voyage apparently brings is... an AI chatbot? That talks about your habits?

Look, the consumer health space is drowning in apps that promise transformation. They all fail the same way: they can't change behavior, only track it. $2.5M from a16z for what's essentially a wellness chatbot feels like someone just woke up to LLMs and thought "habit tracking" was unsolved.

Maybe they've cracked behavior change. Probably they haven't.

What To Do

Check their retention numbers before building a competing habit-AI—most habit products lose 70% of users in 90 days regardless of AI flavor.
