What Happened

Anthropic executives said it was an accident and retracted the bulk of the takedown notices.

Our Take

This is the bad one. They mass-issued DMCA takedowns, got caught, said "oops, accident," then retracted most. Looks either incompetent or aggressively careless — pick your poison.

Leaks happen. How you respond shows character. Targeted takedowns make sense. Bulk automation that requires retraction? Looks like panic and lawyers without judgment. Kills community goodwill and looks desperate.

What To Do

If code's leaked, accept it and move forward; takedown theater doesn't help your reputation.
