Irina Ghose going from Microsoft India MD to Anthropic's India lead is the right move at the right time. Anthropic's doing the math every tech company did in 2010: India's got talent depth, cost arbitrage, and timezone coverage. But here's the thing—Microsoft had a $200+ person operation there and still couldn't nail it fast enough. Anthropic gets one shot to not botch this.

Ghose knows the pain. If she replays Microsoft's playbook, that's a wasted hire. If she learns from it, she'll move faster.
