Anthropic announces Claude for Healthcare following OpenAI’s ChatGPT Health reveal
What Happened
Anthropic's Claude for Healthcare is unveiled about a week after OpenAI announced its ChatGPT Health product.
Our Take
Healthcare AI is the obvious market right now. HIPAA compliance, regulatory guardrails, customers willing to pay — it's cleaner than consumer AI. Anthropic's not stupid to chase it.
But here's what bugs me: OpenAI announced ChatGPT Health a week earlier and nobody's really proved these work better than fine-tuned open models in production. We're seeing a lot of 'we have a healthcare version' followed by 'it handles patient data securely' and... not much else. The moat isn't the model — it's trust, compliance documentation, and liability insurance.
Anthropism's better positioned on safety storytelling, but this is going to be a slow enterprise sales slog.
What To Do
Build healthcare software using standard Claude with proper data masking and audit logs — don't wait for Claude Healthcare to actually ship.
