↗What Happened
14.ai also launched a consumer brand to understand how much AI can handle customer support tasks.
Our Take
14.ai automates the rote parts of support—password resets, billing questions, FAQs. That's 60-70% of tickets maybe. But you still need humans for escalations, angry customers, edge cases (the stuff requiring judgment).
The married founders angle is cute branding but irrelevant. The real story: startup support is commodified. You can replace the $15/hr rep, not the person who fixes hard problems.
This saves money short-term and creates a support gap long-term.
What To Do
If you're using 14.ai, keep your best support person on payroll for triage—don't cut everyone.
