Unitree's R1 humanoid robot is now available internationally on AliExpress at $4,370 — the lowest price point yet for a bipedal platform with aerobatic capability.

That price puts hardware in reach of robotics ML teams that stayed sim-only because physical units were prohibitively expensive. Most embodied AI pipelines are still architected around cloud inference, which is the wrong call — 100ms round-trip latency breaks any real-time locomotion controller. Edge inference on an onboard accelerator is the only viable path.

Teams running sim-to-real locomotion or manipulation experiments should order now. Pure LLM teams have no use case here.
