$100 million for open ML. That's big, I'll give them that. But it doesn't fundamentally change how the money flows or how the power dynamics work. It's a nice number for press releases, showing off the collaborative spirit, but the actual competitive edge still comes down to who has the best talent and the deepest proprietary data, not just open weights.

Open source is great for sharing code, but proprietary systems are what actually make money right now. The collaboration is valuable, but don't let the hype distract you from building defensible, closed systems where the intellectual property actually matters.
