Tinder to use AI to get to know users, tap into their Camera Roll photos
What Happened
Tinder is testing a feature called Chemistry that will get to know users through questions and, with permission, will access Camera Roll photos on their phones to learn more about their interests and personality.
Our Take
This is just data mining wrapped in a flirting interface. "Get to know users" = build a behavioral profile. They're asking permission to scan your photos so they can feed that into whatever AI is training on dating behavior. The creepy part isn't the feature—it's that Tinder's been mediocre for a decade and suddenly they need an AI crutch.
Here's the thing: if they really understood what made matches work, they wouldn't need your camera roll. They need you to give them something better than swipes so the algorithm looks smart. And it'll probably work because people are lonely.
What To Do
Skip Tinder if you value photo privacy; the matching won't actually get better.
