What Happened

Because employees could do more, work began bleeding into lunch breaks and late evenings. The employees' to-do lists expanded to fill every hour that AI freed up, and then kept going.

Our Take

Here's the thing: AI didn't create hustle culture, it just weaponized it. Freed-up time gets colonized by more work—that's not AI's fault, that's your manager's fault. The problem isn't the tool, it's that nobody's setting boundaries. You're not working harder because AI exists; you're working harder because your to-do list auto-expands and someone profits from that.

What To Do

If you're using AI to do 2x work in the same hours, that's a business problem, not a productivity win.
