The Annotated Diffusion Model
Fordel's Take
the idea of annotated diffusion models sounds great, but i'm skeptical about the actual value proposition. annotation is pure, tedious work. what they're selling here is just a way to bundle that grunt work into a specific framework, not a magical leap in generative quality.
it's a necessary step for training complex models, sure, but it just shifts the bottleneck. you spend massive time labeling, and now you spend massive time managing the annotation pipeline. it's just shifting the complexity, not eliminating it.
unless they manage to scale the annotation process cheaply enough to negate the labor cost, it's just academic overhead. don't expect a sudden revolution, just better tooling for tedious tasks.
What To Do
Evaluate the labor cost savings versus the quality gain from fully annotated datasets.
