Tech CEOs boast and bicker about AI at Davos
What Happened
There were times at this week’s meeting of the World Economic Forum when Davos seemed transformed into a high-powered tech conference.
Our Take
Tech executives arguing about AI at the World Economic Forum is about as useful as asking a panel of bankers about philosophy. They'll make wild claims, hedge when challenged, and someone'll drop a buzzword like "alignment" to sound thoughtful. None of this moves the needle.
That said, these conferences *do* matter for signaling to LPs and regulators. If Apple CEO is at Davos saying "we care about privacy," that matters for optics even if it's mostly spin. The real progress happens in shipping, not in Davos speeches.
Skip the news coverage on this. The meaningful part—if any—is buried in earnings calls and investor memos, not stage quotes.
What To Do
Ignore Davos hot-takes and watch product releases and earnings calls instead.
