What Happened

Skana Robotics built a decision-making algorithm that helps unmanned vessels react and adapt to data from other vessels.

Our Take

This one's actually interesting — not because of Skana specifically, but because distributed decision-making at scale is the pattern that matters.

Can't generalize much from "underwater robots" to what most of us build, but the decision-making algorithm they're describing (vessels adapting based on real-time data from other vessels) is multi-agent coordination. That's the hard problem in robotics, and if they've cracked it for water, the thinking applies everywhere.

Not actionable for most app builders, but if you're doing anything with coordination problems — scheduling, resource allocation, supply chain — watch how they approach this.

What To Do

If you're building multi-agent or coordination systems, research Skana's approach to real-time decision propagation.
