Plaud launches a new AI pin and a desktop meeting notetaker
What Happened
Plaud is going after the likes of Granola to launch a desktop app that records online meetings.
Our Take
Another hardware play chasing the "always recording" dream. Look, Granola proved there's demand for smart meeting notes, but slapping it on a pin doesn't solve the core problem—transcription quality and parsing what matters.
Plaud's making hardware when the real game's in how you organize insights afterward. Desktop app makes sense though. You're already in the meeting on your computer anyway.
If they nail the accuracy and don't force you into another proprietary ecosystem, this works. But "new AI pin" feels like chasing Humane's hype rather than solving anything real.
What To Do
Test their free tier for 5 meetings and compare accuracy to Granola before deciding.
