it's fine, but it shows the industry moving in the right direction. native apps are necessary because the web wrapper is just a lazy, clunky workaround. once perplexity gets this polished, it'll force other players to stop treating everything like a glorified website.

this move proves that the friction of switching context—jumping between the web and a separate app—is a serious UX killer. when you build a proper native experience, you cut out all that unnecessary overhead.

we're done with web portals being the default entry point for serious tools. if a tool is meant to be integrated into your workflow, it has to be installed and fast.
