What Happened

The promise is AI that's uniquely helpful because it knows you. But the risk is AI that feels more like surveillance than service.

Our Take

This is Google selling the same targeted ad model but for AI assistants. They're framing 'helpfulness' as knowing your search history, email, calendar — basically total visibility. Here's the thing: when this hallucinates (and it will), you'll be humiliated with all your personal data attached.

They'll pretend it's opt-in, then quietly make it mandatory. Google doesn't innovate in privacy — it innovates in normalization. The ad model is just a subscription rebrand.

What To Do

Assume any personalized Google AI feature will eventually require maximum data exposure.
