Nvidia launches powerful new Rubin chip architecture
What Happened
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang officially launched the company’s new Rubin computing architecture, which he described as the state of the art in AI computing.
Our Take
More performance, same story. Jensen announces a new architecture, everyone gasps, you buy more H100s next quarter. It's clockwork.
Rubin's probably legit—Nvidia's engineering is solid. But the announcement tells you nothing about power efficiency, cost per FLOP, or actual inference latency. "State of the art in AI computing" is a PR line, not a spec sheet.
The real question nobody asks: will Rubin be a generational leap or an incremental tune-up? Nvidia's not saying. And if it's incremental, you already know the formula—same prices, 10-20% gains, margin expansion for Nvidia.
What To Do
Wait for benchmarks on inference latency and power per inference before upgrading your clusters.
