Mozilla’s new CEO says AI is coming to Firefox, but will remain a choice
What Happened
Mozilla has appointed Anthony Enzor-DeMeo as its CEO as the Firefox developer scrambles to adapt in a rapidly changing browser market.
Our Take
Honestly? New CEO, same problem. Firefox is years behind on AI integration, and saying "it'll be optional" is just announcing they don't have a real strategy yet.
The reality: users don't choose browsers for privacy theater anymore. They choose for speed and ecosystem. Mozilla's playing defense while Chrome/Edge already ship AI features at scale. "We'll do it responsibly" means "we'll do it late."
That said, good on them for not trying to bolt on some half-baked feature to pretend they're innovating. Firefox is still solid if you're deep in web standards and care about extension ecosystem.
What To Do
Ship your AI-integrated features for Chrome first, test Firefox later — don't block on Mozilla's timeline.
