Fordel's Take
i guess this is just another feature release to grab market share on the mobile front. it's fine, but it shows that the battle isn't just about the API or the backend model; it's about owning the final consumption experience. making it a native iOS app means they're forcing integration into the consumer device layer, which gives them direct, low-friction access to the user.
for us developers, this means we need to stop treating these chatbots as isolated services and start thinking about how they integrate into the mobile environment. the experience matters more than the underlying LLM performance.
it's a good sign that smaller players like mistral can push the boundaries by focusing on streamlined, platform-specific delivery rather than just brute-force model size.
What To Do
Assess the user experience and integration quality of the new native app.
