↗What Happened
WhatsApp's new platform policies ban general-purpose AI chatbots like Copilot from using its service.
Our Take
Meta's right to kick Copilot out. WhatsApp's messaging, not an app store. Let a general-purpose bot live there, it becomes spam vector and liability.
But don't pretend this is about safety—it's about control. Meta wants proprietary AI on its platform, not competitors'. Smart business, bad for users.
If you want AI on WhatsApp, it'll be Meta's, on Meta's terms. Expect every messaging platform to do this. Consolidation wins.
What To Do
Don't count on third-party messaging platforms for distribution—build your own or license from the platform owner.
