Meta acquires AI device startup Limitless
What Happened
Limitless said it shares Meta's vision of bringing personal superintelligence to everyone.
Our Take
Gut: Meta's buying a company that built a cool voice recording AI toy, and now they'll bury it in their AI product roadmap while claiming "superintelligence for everyone." Classic acqui-hire dressed up as vision.
The actual product (Limitless made voice note transcription + recall) wasn't making real money. But Meta needs to own every corner of AI before someone else does. And sure, voice interfaces sound great in keynotes. In practice? We're still typing.
This matters only if Meta actually ships something useful. So far their AI plays have been... fine. Not game-changing. Expect Limitless features to show up in some Meta app in 2027, then get deprecated when they pivot again.
What To Do
Test Limitless's product before acquisition to see if there's actually something worth building on.
