Machine Learning Experts - Lewis Tunstall
Fordel's Take
look, lewis is just another case study in how much the market inflates individual expertise. he's got the credentials, sure, but it doesn't change the fact that most ML consulting is just selling glorified Jupyter notebooks. it's fine for showcasing skills, but don't mistake an expert's profile for guaranteed project delivery.
we've hired plenty of people with 'ML Expert' titles, and most of them are just prompt engineers with a degree. the actual value is in the implementation and the ability to productionize models, not just the theoretical knowledge. it's marketing, mostly.
if you're hiring, look past the shiny certifications and test their ability to deploy a model end-to-end, not just pull weights from a repository. that's where the real money is.
What To Do
When hiring, prioritize demonstrated end-to-end deployment skills over academic credentials.
