What Happened

Arcee is a tiny 26-person U.S. startup that built a high-performing, massive, open source LLM. And it's gaining popularity with OpenClaw users.

Our Take

Honestly, I want to root for them, but LLM economics are brutal. 26 people can't compete on fine-tuning, safety validation, and inference optimization at scale. Good model ≠ viable business when distribution scales faster than margins can sustain.

They've executed well technically. But open-source LLMs struggle to reach customers at scale. The moat isn't engineering—it's go-to-market and safety trust.

Still, someone's gotta keep the fire alive.

What To Do

Monitor if they land enterprise customers; if they're still chasing researchers, they won't survive.
