ElevenLabs CEO: Voice is the next interface for AI
What Happened
ElevenLabs CEO argued at Web Summit Qatar that voice is the next interface for AI, as OpenAI, Google, and Apple push conversational systems into wearables, new hardware, and everyday interactions.
Our Take
Voice is good for *specific* problems (driving, accessibility, hands-free warehouses). It's not "next" for everything. Text still wins for complex tasks — you can edit, reference back, think. Voice in public is awkward. Bandwidth is higher.
ElevenLabs has solid TTS but they're positioning a commodity as a paradigm shift. The real opportunity is ambient voice in specific contexts (in-car, earbuds), not universal UI replacement.
What To Do
Add voice where it solves friction (no hands or eyes available), don't try to replace text for complex workflows.
