Honestly? China's lapping us on consumer AI video. ByteDance shipped Dreamina in CapCut with built-in safeguards from day one—didn't wait for backlash, didn't scramble to patch it later. That's pragmatic product thinking.
The model works, people use it, and it doesn't generate non-consensual deepfakes out of the box. Is that a low bar? Sure. But we keep setting that bar at ground level, then tripping over it. ByteDance cleared it on launch.
Whoever's watching this space—western video generation tools are now chasing features China shipped months ago.
