AWS launches a new AI agent platform specifically for healthcare
What Happened
AWS is launching Amazon Connect Health, an AI agent platform that will help with patient scheduling, documentation, and patient verification.
Our Take
Healthcare automation is a $50B problem hiding inside "we need better scheduling." AWS is swinging at the right category.
But here's what kills most healthcare AI: it's not the tech, it's payer politics. HIPAA compliance is table stakes. The real bottleneck—insurance eligibility verification—takes 72 hours because payers *intentionally* drag it. AWS can't automate that. It can automate scheduling and basic documentation, which is baseline stuff, not differentiation.
Unless AWS is actually talking to payer APIs and shortening that cycle, this is a nice-to-have feature, not a platform.
What To Do
Ask AWS directly: Does Connect Health automate insurance verification or just scheduling? That answer determines if this matters.
