Apple's AI leadership departed and its team restructured last week. Simultaneously, OpenAI declared internal 'code red' — Sam Altman redirecting all resources toward ChatGPT quality after Gemini 2.0 closed the gap on core benchmarks.
Two of three dominant model providers are in reactive mode at once. Teams running production agents on GPT-4o are now depending on infrastructure under emergency reorientation. Treating any single provider as a stable platform is bad architecture, not just vendor risk.
