Apple sets June date for WWDC 2026, teasing ‘AI advancements’
What Happened
Apple will host its next Worldwide Developers Conference the week of June 8. The company is expected to announce major updates to Siri with advanced AI capabilities.
Our Take
Apple's two years late on AI Siri. Everyone shipped this in 2024. The question is whether Siri on iPhone actually does anything useful or just sounds smarter.
On-device vs cloud compute is their real advantage, but Apple's been vague about which features are local and which aren't. Expect a lot of 'privacy-first' messaging and incremental improvements.
Don't get excited until they ship something that actually reduces app-switching—right now Siri's still just a voice search button.
What To Do
Wait for the actual demos in June—vague 'AI advancements' announcements mean nothing without use cases.
