What Happened

Anthropic has launched Opus 4.5, the latest version of its flagship model, with new integrations into Chrome and Excel.

Our Take

Look, the headline's boring but the move is smart. Chrome and Excel are where people actually work—not some isolated chat interface. Most AI tools are still sandbox apps you have to manually copy-paste into. Embedding Claude directly into the workflows people already use? That's how you actually get adoption beyond the hype crowd.

The integrations aren't flashy. Nobody's writing Medium posts about Excel plugins. But they're the difference between "AI tool I tinker with" and "AI that's part of my job." This is Anthropic thinking like a platform company, not a model company.

What matters: Does the API handle Excel's messy data without exploding? That'll be the actual limiting factor, not the model.

What To Do

Test the Excel integration with actual spreadsheets before betting your workflow on it.
