Amazon to begin testing AI tools for film and TV production next month
What Happened
Amazon MGM Studios will reportedly begin a closed beta program in March to test its AI tools to help with film and TV production.
Our Take
Actually smart move. Hollywood's terrified of AI but can't resist it. Testing in-house means Amazon protects its IP while learning to use these tools without giving away scripts and footage to third-party vendors. Every major studio will copy this approach once it works.
You get the efficiency gains of AI without the legal and competitive risk of outsourcing your creative process. This is how enterprises should use AI — not as a replacement, but as a locked-down internal tool. MGM won't accidentally train a competitor's model with their unreleased content.
What To Do
If building AI for media, pitch studios for co-development deals that give them IP ownership and full control over training data.
